MUSA SYEED Director
Syeed is a writer/filmmaker, with experience producing throughout the Muslim world. He
recently returned from a Fulbright Fellowship in Egypt, focusing on experimental filmmaking
and religious identity. He produced the short film A Son's Sacrifice for public television, which had its premiere at International Documentary Festival in Amsterdam 2006. As a writer, he has produced original work for the Children's Museum of Manhattan and HCI publications. He serves as a film critic for Islamica Magazine. Syeed has worked as an educator in schools, community centers, and prisons. He focuses on interfaith education and serves as an advisor for film and television including Thirteen/WNET, the PBS affiliate in New York City. He is an alumnus of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts Film & Television program and the Middle Eastern & Islamic Studies program.
DANNY ALPERT Executive Producer
Alpert is currently producing The Calling, a groundbreaking four-part documentary series that shares the journeys of several Americans — Muslim, Christian and Jewish — who have decided to enter the clergy. His recent film, A Doula Story, about a remarkable woman who empowers disadvantaged pregnant teenagers with the skills and confidence to become loving mothers, is currently airing on PBS stations across the nation. Previously, Alpert directed A History of God, a two-hour documentary special for A&E Networks based on the bestseller by British theologian Karen Armstrong. He co-produced and edited Legacy, a feature length documentary for HBO, which was nominated for a 2001 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, a National News and Documentary Emmy Nomination for Best Documentary and was an official selection at the 2000 Sundance Film Festival. From 1994 to 1997, he produced No Time to be a Child, a three-part series that aired nationally on PBS, as well as internationally in over 12 countries. No Time to be a Child received many critical honors, including a nomination for a national Emmy Award.
